It began with an idea. This was driven forward by ambition. And then, in March 2002, 11 cars and 19 drivers took to the grid at Snetterton: Britcars was born.
That idea, back in 1997, was to form the European Endurance and Racing Club. From the inauspicious beginnings of a ten pound note found on the floor (!), this idea grew into an exciting debut season of 9 races.
These days the Britcar grid often holds more than 30 cars. Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park all host events - including popular night races. Sky TV's World Motor Sports have also picked up on the buzz.
Such is the popularity of Britcars, as witnessed by the healthily populated starting grids, that now we've a new series for 2005- the ProductionS1, catering for saloons and sports cars up to 3000cc. And this is where the Zoom-Zoom really kicks in. Because in 2005, Mazda is on the grid - with their endurance record-holding, award-winning RX-8 model.
